RR and B Motorcars, LLC, has evolved from its auto-search-firm beginnings, to become one of the areas most succesful pre-owned auto dealerships.
After over thirty years in the St. Louis area, we are now a company with multi-purpose functions. These functions include but are not limited to:
01) We still sell and trade rare and classic collectible luxury automobiles as well as Asian autos; Toyotas, Hondas, Lexus', Acuras, Mercedes', as well as other
premium autos.
02) We buy premium motorcars for our inventory.
03) We accept Consignments, on a limited basis.
04) We still perform specific searches for our customers .
In the beginning we operated ostensibly as a one-on-one private search firm for individuals seeking specific luxury and collectible automobiles for their own personal enjoyment or to add to their collection. Selling for investment purposes was the furthest thing from our mind. Since our market consisted of private buyers it was not necessary for us to have showroom and service facilities. We operated from a warehouse garage.
We discovered our unique opportunity in England, when our research revealed there was a market for previously owned Rolls Royce and Bentley motorcars in the US, and that market was - and still is - virtually untapped.
In 1982 we began importing "Gray Market" automobiles, primarily new Mercedes Benz’ from Germany, and Jaguars, from England, to buyers in the United States. Our objective was to save our buyer/s as much as $10,000.00 on a new Mercedes or Jaguar. These savings were realized even after all the US EPA and US DOT requirements were complied with, and included all import duties and delivery costs.
Also by then, and because of requests for additional services, coupled with our growth, we opened a storefront dealership with showroom, offering a complete range of automotive services. Included in these services were; buying, selling, trading, consignment, and a service department with Rolls Royce and Mercedes-Benz, certified mechanics. Services included everything from minor tune-ups to engine rebuilding. Because of our reputation for excellent and prompt service, people brought their cars from as far away as one hundred miles for service and consignment purposes.
We advertised our automobiles and services via a nation-wide, weekly radio program emanating from St. Louis. The response was phenomenal. We sold hundreds of automobiles to buyers all over the country.
We imported and exported our automobiles through several major ports here in the US; Newark, Baltimore, Miami, Houston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles/Long Beach. After completing all necessary import/export documentation, we dropped shipped the auto directly to the new owner. We arranged everything; purchasing, preparation to/from port, shipping, customs clearance, US importation documentation, and finally domestic delivery to the new owner. We became experts in every aspect of importing and exporting; customs declarations and clearances, and overseas shipping; both containerization and "RO/RO" (Roll on, Roll off).
By 1986 however, the US dollar began to decline sharply in value against British and European currencies. As the dollar dropped, prices on imports rose and our import orders began to dwindle. So, we began exporting American "muscle cars" to Great Britain and Europe. This eliminated the necessity for us to maintain a showroom or provide maintenance service. Consequently, we closed our dealership storefront and returned to our original core business and once again began operating out of a warehouse garage. We still do, except that now we have a virtual showroom which is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
In the last several years we have redirected our focus and have begun buying and selling premium Asian and European autos, mostly Toyotas, Hondas, Lexus', Acuras or Mercedes.
Except for new car Dealers, we sell more pre-owned Toyotas, Hondas, Lexus', Acuras or Mercedes than any other used vehicle dealer in town.
